The New York State Department of Health has released a new card to help people who are deaf or hard of hearing and may be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 communicate with their health care provider.

The card allows people who are deaf or hard of hearing to indicate the best ways to communicate with them; as well as indicate their level of pain, specific symptoms, how long they’ve been ill, and if they’ve been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19.

The back of the card includes tips for health care providers on communicating with people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
