Chad Grover, a receptionist at AIM, is celebrating his 25th year with the agency.

On Sept. 28, AIM threw a surprise party for Grover in Corning’s Denison Park, with a catered lunch, a cake, Bingo. Many staff from our Corning and Elmira offices attended, as did some of Grover’s retired former coworkers along with his parents.

Grover is AIM’s longest-serving employee, having joined the agency in 1997. Grover, who is blind, initially received services through AIM and participated in programs as a consumer, then began working for the agency.

He joined AIM in a very different era, when there were only 20 staff working in one location in Corning, and far fewer programs and services. There was only one phone line, and records were kept on paper. AIM has grown tremendously, but Grover’s role at the front desk is the same: taking calls and greeting visitors, and making sure they get to the right place.

“For the past 25 years Chad has been the first person to greet you when visiting AIM,” wrote René Snyder, AIM’s Chief Executive Officer. “His humility, generosity and kindness is a constant source of motivation and inspiration and we are so fortunate to have him on our team.”

Grover was presented with a Braille plaque honoring his quarter-century of service.
