AIM’s Recovery Services Program will host a Narcan training in Elmira in May.

The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14 at Faith Temple Community Church of God In Christ, located at 765 Harper Street, Elmira. It is free and open to the community.

Brandon Beuter, AIM’s Recovery Peer Advocate, will be the presenter. He will talk about how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and steps to take in the event of an overdose. Beuter will also demonstrate how to administer Narcan, a medication used to rapidly reverse an overdose.

Attendees at the training will be given a free Narcan kit. Supplies are limited.

As a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate, Beuter combines lived experience with professional training to support the recovery of people with substance use disorders. Beuter can be reached at (607) 962-8225, ext. 233.
