AIM offers navigation services for the New York State of Health Plan Marketplace, which was established as part of the affordable care act.

Individuals and families can use the marketplace, or exchange, to compare insurance options, calculate costs and select coverage. To make plans affordable, providers are offering tiered plans of varying costs, and some individuals and families will be eligible for subsidies

The open enrollment period for 2015 coverage ended on Feb. 15, 2015. The next open enrollment period for 2016 coverage is set to begin in November 2015.

Public health programs such as Medicaid and Child Health Plus are NOT subject to an open enrollment period. Navigators will be available to assist with Medicaid and Child Health Plus applications year-round.

While some will be able to navigate the marketplace on their own, others may need assistance — which is where AIM’s service comes in.

AIM’s team of navigators can help individuals and families understand their marketplace options and enroll in plans. AIM’s Navigators are available at convenient times, like evenings and weekends. Navigators are available to anyone living in Allegany, Chemung, Schuyler and Steuben counties.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you missed the open enrollment period for 2015 coverage and need low-cost health insurance, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

To qualify for a Special Enrollment Period, consumers must tell New York State of Health about the Qualifying Life Event within 60 days of the event:
