Open enrollment through NY State of Health, the state’s health insurance marketplace, begins Nov. 1, 2019 and continues through Jan. 31, 2020. AIM Independent Living Center’s Navigator Program provides free enrollment assistance.

AIM’s Navigator Program helps individuals and families in Steuben, Chemung, Schuyler and Allegany counties enroll in health insurance coverage through NY State of Health, and renew or change their health plan for 2020.

The program, funded by a grant from the New York State Department of Health, is completely free and has no ties to any insurance companies.

AIM has navigators available in Corning, Bath, Hornell, Elmira, Montour Falls, Watkins Glen and multiple locations in Allegany County. Evening and weekend appointments are available.

For more information or to schedule a free appointment, call Navigator Program Coordinator Breanna Wilson at (607) 962-8225, ext. 118 or toll-free at (888) 962-8244, ext. 118.

Those who enroll between Dec. 16 and Jan. 15 will have coverage beginning Feb. 1, and those who enroll between Jan. 16 and Jan. 31 will have coverage beginning March 1.

Most NY State of Health consumers qualify for financial assistance that lowers monthly premiums. Eligibility is based on income and household size.

Consumers may also qualify for free or low-cost programs such as Medicaid, Child Health Plus or the Essential Plan, depending on income and household size.

Dental insurance is also available through NY State of Health.
