ADA anniversary event July 24 in Corning

CORNING | Disability groups, dignitaries and the public will gather July 24 in Corning to mark the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities.

The event will be held at 10 a.m. July 24 in Centerway Square, Corning. Guest speakers will mark the anniversary with proclamations and words about the historic legislation.

Attendees will include AIM Independent Living Center, Pathways, the Arc of Steuben, Corning Community College, Sen. Tom O’Mara, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, Corning Mayor Rich Negri, Corning Deputy Mayor Bill Boland and a representative from U.S. Rep. Tom Reed’s office.

The event will last approximately 30 minutes. The public is invited to attend.
